A poem should have perfect meter plus
a rhythm. "Meaning lacks the consequence
of technique" experts declare with robust
concern, discussing poets. Most of us
feel lucky whensoever words by chance
or design fit the pattern that we seek.
Myself (with frequent stress on meaning, not
any technique) poets now consider weak
and not so hot!
Technique, technique, technique really must
be practiced with a fervor daily, just
until my style improves, say quite a lot!
